Multicolumn footnotes

I know that you can get your footnotes to use the same column structure as your document by using display: prince-column-footnote, but is there a way to get your footnotes to use columns if your page does not? In my case, I have a lot of short footnotes, and I'd like it if I could fit two or three on a line, even though I want my page in a single column. Is that possible?

Thanks!

I believe you are asking for inline footnotes.

The roadmap has these listed for version 7.1:

Allow footnotes to be formatted as inline boxes. (ref)

Another reason to be excited for the future of Prince, thanks.

It ended up being Prince 9 and not 7.1, but we finally have support for inline footnotes, like this:
float: prince-inline-footnote | prince-column-inline-footnote
