Forum How do I...?

rotating text with prince

Nicopotvin
Hi,

Does prince support any way of rotating text via css.
There is a possibility to do this with IE filters, but i'd rather not use them.
I like my things to work everywhere
I have this one project where i should be able to use this feature.

Is this possible?

thanks

Currently it is only possible to rotate text by using SVG, as there is no standard mechanism for doing this with CSS yet.

I have found that I will need rotated text for the Bible spine. If I want this to work in 9 months from now should I look at SVG or wait for CSS support inside of Prince?

The SVG was quick, and it worked. Thanks.

SVG will work today, in 9 months time who knows? Maybe CSS will work too :)

We've found a need for this, too. Often photo credits run along the vertical edge of a picture.

My need for this is to do a pocketmod (pocketmod.com)-style PDF output. Single landscape page that can be folded and cut to make a little booklet. I'm hoping to do it right now with pure SVG (half of the page must be printed upside-down), but we'll see. :)

Of course, it would be far nicer if I could just label a div as "upside down."

Support for HTML content inside SVG might make this easier, as then you could apply a rotation to a chunk of HTML.
