I'm getting some odd behaviour in a generated file; most of the text is selectable and copy/pasteable, but the majority of the body text is being rendered in vectors, so can't be copied.

The font-family appears not to be the problem, as the selectable areas are in the same font as the non selectable.

Are there any css declarations that would force vector rendering?

Update, it may actually be something to do with the fonts. I've narrowed it down to just the sections of the document that use the 'normal' font (Hoefler Text in this case). Areas with italic or small =caps Hoefler text can be copied/pasted fine, but normal body text is rendering as vectors.

Does this problem appear in more than one PDF viewer? In particular, there are some known issues affecting MacOS X Preview.
