Forum How do I...?

Install Multiple Copies of Prince

Snerf
I know with the upcoming release of Prince 8.1, I am wanting to test it on my server before I deploy it live, to make sure that it is 100% compatible with my existing code.

So I am wondering as to how I can do this,so I dont break any links or such on my linux/centos system for my cuirrent version of Prince (v6) if I did a full install. I know my way around linux, but I am not that well versed.

Any help or information regarding running 2 versions of prince side by side would be greatly beneficial.

Thanks

Perhaps if you are using RPM, you could install the second Prince package with "--prefix /usr/local", then you would have the main Prince installed as /usr/bin/prince and the second as /usr/local/bin/prince. The other option is to extract the files and copy them wherever you want; Prince does not modify any system settings, so it is relatively easy to install manually.
