Forum How do I...?

Mechanic Fun free font

getti
Hi,

I have noticed that when I embed the Mechanic Fun font to my document it gets rendered correctly to the exported ePub2 format. But the same font is not supported when I generate a PDF.

I double checked the CSS define also, but found no errors.

Is it a case some of the font support by ePub format and not to the PDF? Do you have any ideas why is this so?

Is Prince emitting any error or warning messages? Which font is being used in the PDF instead?

Hi Mike,

Yes, it shows the following warning.
warning: "Mechanical Fun, Regular" does not allow font embedding

And the fall back font is TimesNewRoman.

That is the reason, then. Fonts include metadata specifying whether you are allowed to embed them in PDF files or not, and this font does not permit it. Perhaps you could ask the font author for permission.

Okay, got it now. Thanks for the info Mike.
