Prince XML

Testimonials

I am really excited about this software; after using other systems to produce our PDF's, using Prince doesn't feel like work at all!

I downloaded your personal edition trial, trying not to be too hopeful (just in case), but in just minutes you've managed to solve using CSS what took us hours before to even get started doing with XSL-FO, and 1000x more elegantly. Woohoo!

It took about 2.5 minutes to download the install file, run it, and create my first 24-page PDF. Impressive.

I always wanted to find XML based solution for authoring and distribution of scientific manuscripts. However it seemed merely impossible, as from one hand CSS support in browsers was insufficient to afford formatting of mathematical formulae and from another hand it was hard to achieve decent printing quality with existing CSS rendering engines. Prince 5 solved both problems at once. Strong CSS support helped a lot in rendering of complex mathematical formulae, while implementation of CSS3 paged media solved all printing related problems.

Publishing dozens of health brochures in 5+ languages as brochures, posters and to the web crys out for a single-source solution. With Prince as the PDF engine, we now use simple and future-proof XHTML + CSS + Unicode + JPEG as our master document format. Other more expensive proprietary solutions and more complicated XSL-FO solutions just don't cut it.

I'd really rather avoid making docbook / xsltproc / fop etc. work. I'm sure it's great that XSLT is Turing-complete, but it's a royal pain to actually use for anything complicated.

With Prince I whipped up a sample XML file and CSS print stylesheet in a few minutes. With the other workflow it took me hours to just get my head around getting started.

Thank you so much. You have excellent tech support and you have saved me from having to learn xsl:fo once again. I choose to remain blissfully ignorant of xsl:fo, thanks to Prince.

Prince is a very versatile program. We use it to generate entire textbooks of home schooling material. We were able to produce a beautiful textbook-style layout with margins and sidenotes and more.

By using Prince, we can reuse the same CSS style sheets to format our XML content, only changing a few parameters each time. We used to create these textbooks with Adobe Framemaker. This new process takes 1/10th the time it used to.

Yeslogic is a great company to work with. They helped us with tips, guidance, and communicated with us on a personal level.
