Screen Readers

Is there a way to make it so the pdfs generated with Princexml are fully compatible with screen readers for those with disabilities?
Currently it should be possible to extract text from PDF files generated by Prince, eg. using tools like pdftotext. However, the use of some layout features like tables, floats, and columns can make it more difficult to navigate with a screen reader.

In the future we are planning to support tagged PDF, required for PDF/A. In theory this should make generated PDF files more accessible, although I'm not sure how many screen readers support it.

Finally, given that Prince converts HTML and XML documents to PDF, there is always the option of applying a screen reader to the original HTML or XML document, which is likely to be more accessible to begin with.
The latest builds now support Tagged PDF via the PDF/A-1a and PDF/A-3a profiles.
