[Prince 12.2] PDF/X-3 kills transparent TIFFs

twantzen
I don’t know, if this is a PDF/X3-based problem, but if I place a TIFF with transparency and advice Prince to output PDF/X-3 (prince-pdf-profile: "PDF/X-3:2003";), the transparency is broken (see screenshot attached: PDF/X-3 on the left, PDF/X-4 on the right). With outputting PDF/X-4 everything is fine.

Bug or PDF/X3-related?

Thanks
Tobias

I tried this szenario with InDesign and outputting a transparent TIFF under PDF/X-3 is no problem. So I’d say, its a Prince bug.

PDF/X-3 does not allow transparency, but perhaps it allows soft mask images? We will investigate.

You’re right, Mike, InDesign automatically performs a transparency flattening, and Prince doesn’t have a flattening integrated – right? So no Prince bug. I’ll tell our printers that they have to get used to PDF/X-4.
