Option to convert fonts to outlines?

twantzen
Hi there!

I couldn't find anything in the forums or documentation about this topic:
Is there an option to convert text (fonts) to vector outlines?

Thanks,
Tobias

What is the use case exactly?
twantzen
We want to create CI conform EAN codes with some information texts around out of a database as small PDF units (50x25mm), which our customers can use in other workflows with apps like InDesign, Illustrator (etc.), e.g. for laying out a book jacket.

Since there is the potentional risk, that someone opens these small PDFs in Illustrator or Affinity without the CI fonts installed, that are used in those snippets, we want to convert all fonts to outline to prevent that.

Thanks,
Tobias

So having the fonts embedded in the PDFs themselves is not sufficient?
twantzen
Illustrator ignores the embedded fonts and tries to open a PDF for full editing.

So I read between the lines that PrinceXML has no hidden option to convert all texts to outlines, am I right?
mikeday
Right, there hasn't been any need for this; sometimes Prince will rasterise text to bitmaps though, for example when applying CSS or SVG filters.

Mike, thanks for pointing this out and pointing to rasterizing with SVG filters. I'll explore that a bit, maybe that's enough for our needs.
