Forum How do I...?

Create PDF articles from wikipedia

Voorlandt
I have downloaded and installed Prince 6.0 and tried the wikipedia example in the samples (command line), but nothing happens.

Then I tried to manual add the html and style sheet, but the program does not produce a pdf.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot!

Can you paste the error messages that you get?
Voorlandt
- When I try the command line (copy and paste from the sample); then absolutely nothing happens, no error or warning, as if it ignores the command line

- When I go via select input file and type in:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland

and the style sheet

http://www.princexml.com/howcome/2008/wikipedia/wiki2.css

I get the following warnings:

warning /w/index.php?title=-&action=raw&gen=css&maxage=2678400 can't open input file: No such file or directory
warning /w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Monobook.css&useøsgcache=yes&action=raw&ctype=text/css&smaxage=2678400 can't open input file: Invalid argument
warning /w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.css&useøsgcache=yes&action=raw&ctype=text/css&smaxage=2678400 can't open input file: Invalid argument
warning /skins-1.5/common/commonPrint.css?160 can't open input file: No such file or directory

When you get no error or warning, does the program actually create a PDF file or not?
Voorlandt
It doesn't create a pdf (at least the view button is disabled).
mikeday
I mean, when you run it from the command-line?
Voorlandt
the program opens, but that's about it. Otherwise nothing happens (including no PDF, or attempt to load website). It starts very fast, so I have the impression it doesn't do anything else than just starting the program.

Ah, in that case when running from the command-line you need to run the prince.exe that is within the Engine\Bin subfolder. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, it worked!! I get a few warnings but the pdf's look great. Sorry for the late reply.
